The History

Bill Fox is a professional sports photographer working in the San Francisco Bay Area. He owns and operates Bill Fox Sports Photos, which specializes in game action photography of high school, youth league and professional sports.

Fox is a former San Francisco policeman who, in the wake of the 1975 police strikes, quit the San Francisco Police Department to build a new career as the Bay Area's only full-time high school and youth league sports action photographer.

Fox is also a member of the photographic staff of the San Francisco 49ers who, in 1987, won the prestigious Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest with a picture of a diving Jerry Rice catch.

Another winning image -- this time of 49er Brandon Lloyd diving for a catch in New Orleans -- was again honored by the Hall of Fame in 2005.

Both winning images hang on permanent display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

However, the majority of Fox's work is done on the Little League and high school fields and gyms of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Since 1973, using the same equipment, and techniques he uses to shoot the pros, Fox has gone down to the grassroots of sports to capture the passion, energy and fleeting moments of athletic glory for thousands of high school and youth league athletes.

During this time Fox has photographed over 30,000 athletes in nearly 6,000 games from ranging kindergarten soccer and T-ball to the Super Bowl
